Hello, Saleshandy users!
Before you can make a single call on Saleshandy Dialer, you need one thing: a phone number.
Not your personal number. Not a number from Aircall or Twilio that you then have to wire into another tool. A number you buy directly inside Saleshandy, assigned to your account, ready to call from, and fully connected to your call logs, recordings, and reports.
This guide walks you through exactly how that works, from choosing your number to making your first call.
Step 0: You Might Already Have a Number
Before you even open the purchase flow, check this first.
If you're buying a Saleshandy Dialer plan for the first time, a free US local number is automatically assigned to your account the moment your purchase goes through.
You don't need to fill out any forms. You don't go through the purchase flow. You don't pick a number from a list. Saleshandy provisions one for you and drops you straight into the Phone Number Management screen with a banner that says:
"A free US phone number has been assigned to your account. You're all set to start calling!"
That's it. If a US number works for your use case, you're ready to call right now; skip ahead to the "Making Your First Call" section at the bottom of this post.
If you need additional numbers, want a specific area code, or need a Canadian number, read on.
Which Countries Can You Buy Numbers For?
Saleshandy currently supports phone number purchases for the United States and Canada.
All available numbers are local numbers, meaning each number carries an area code tied to a specific city or region. Local numbers look familiar to prospects in that area, which can help with answer rates when calling outbound.
Support for additional countries will be added in future updates.
How to Purchase a Phone Number in Saleshandy: Step by Step
Step 1: Search for Available Numbers
Go to the Phone Numbers section in the Dialer module (accessible from the main sidebar).
Click "Purchase Number" to open the purchase screen.
By default, the United States is pre-selected, and the available numbers load automatically. You don't have to do anything to see your first set of options.
From here, you can:
Change the country using the country dropdown — switch between the US and Canada
Filter by area code or local area name — type partial names and the fuzzy search will match as you go (e.g., typing "New Y" will surface New York area codes)
Click Search to refresh results after updating your filters
The results table shows:
Column | What It Means |
Phone Number | The actual number available for purchase |
Region | The geographic region the number belongs to |
Number Type | Local |
Address Requirement | None / Any — what proof of address is needed |
Price / Month | Monthly recurring cost |
Action | "+" button to add to cart |
Address Requirement explained simply:
None — No address proof needed at all
Any — Any valid address proof accepted
Click the "+" button on any number to add it to your cart. You can purchase numbers from both the United States and Canada in a single transaction, with a maximum of 10 numbers per transaction across both countries.
Once you start adding numbers, a cart bar appears at the bottom of the screen showing:
Total count of selected numbers
Total monthly cost
A "View Cart" button to proceed
Step 2: Add Your Contact Details
After reviewing your cart and clicking to proceed, you'll fill in a contact and company details form:
First Name
Last Name
Company Name
Company Website
Address Line
City, State, Country, Postal Code
Phone Number
This is a one-time step. If you've purchased a number before, all fields will be pre-filled with your last submitted information. You can update them or proceed as-is.
No regulatory documents are required. Once you submit this form, you move straight to billing.
Step 3: Review Billing and Pay
After submitting your contact details, you'll see a Billing Summary showing:
Total number of phone numbers being purchased
Total monthly recurring cost
Review it, then click Pay to go to the payment gateway.
Once payment is successful:
All purchased numbers are added to your account immediately
They appear in the Phone Number Management page right away
All numbers are assigned to the Admin by default
Numbers don't have a label yet — you can add one via inline edit or bulk actions
What Happens After Purchase
Your numbers are active immediately after payment. No waiting period, no verification. You can start making and receiving calls right away.
Managing Your Numbers After Purchase
Once your numbers are in your account, head to the Phone Numbers section in the Dialer module. This is where you manage everything.
What you can do per number:
Add or edit the Phone Number Label — Give it a name like "Sales US" or "Canada Outbound." This label appears in the Call Via dropdown when making calls and in your reports.
Assign to a team member — By default, numbers are assigned to the Admin. Reassign from here to any team member.
Set as Primary — Your primary number is the fallback used when no other number matches the prospect's region (relevant when local presence is enabled). The first number you purchase is set as primary by default.
Configure Call Recording — Toggle recording on or off per number. Recording is on by default.
Set up Call Forwarding — Route incoming calls to a teammate or external number based on conditions you define.
Manage Voicemail Greeting — Enable, disable, or customize the greeting prospects hear when you miss their call.
The Free Number — What You Should Know
The free US number that comes with your Dialer plan has a few specific rules worth knowing upfront:
It's free for the entire billing cycle. It won't appear as a charge on your monthly bill. Extra numbers you purchase beyond the free slot are billed normally.
If you delete it mid-cycle, the slot locks. You won't be able to claim another free number until your next billing renewal. You can still buy paid numbers in the meantime.
If you buy multiple US numbers in one transaction later, one of them will automatically fill the free slot (charged at $0). If you buy only Canadian numbers, none of them can fill the free slot; the free slot is US-only.
If you upgrade your plan, an additional free number may be provisioned automatically depending on the new plan's inclusions.
A "Free" tag appears next to the number in your Phone Number Management table, so it's always clear which one it is.
Buying More Numbers Over Time
As your team grows or you expand into new regions, you can purchase more phone numbers anytime:
Go to Phone Number Management → click "Purchase Number"
Follow the same purchase flow described above
Each new number is assigned to Admin by default and can be reassigned to any team member
There's no cap on how many numbers you can have in your account, just a limit of 10 per single transaction. For larger purchases, run multiple transactions.
