When you connect a Microsoft (Office 365/Outlook) email account to Saleshandy, Microsoft may require admin consent before the connection can be completed. This happens because Saleshandy requests certain permissions (like reading and sending mail on your behalf), and your organization's Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) settings determine who is allowed to approve these permissions, the individual user, or only an admin.
Depending on whether you're connecting as a regular user or as an admin, the process will look a little different. Below are both paths.
Path 1: Connecting a Non-Admin User Account
If you're connecting your email account and you are not an admin on your organization's Microsoft tenant, follow these steps:
Go to Saleshandy > Email Accounts > Add Email Account > Microsoft.
Enter your account credentials.
You'll then see a pop-up indicating that admin approval is needed before the connection can be completed.
This approval request is automatically routed to your Microsoft Admin (usually your organization's IT team). They can review and approve it from:
Microsoft Entra Admin Center > Enterprise Applications > Admin Consent Requests
Once the admin approves the request, your email account will be successfully connected to Saleshandy.
Path 2: Connecting an Admin Account
If the account you're connecting belongs to an admin on your Microsoft tenant, the process is quicker:
Go to Saleshandy > Email Accounts > Add Email Account > Microsoft.
Enter the admin account credentials.
Since this is an admin account, you'll see a slightly different pop-up, listing the permissions Saleshandy is requesting along with a checkbox for "Consent on behalf of your organization."
4. Review the permissions and click Accept.
Once accepted, the admin has consented on behalf of the entire organization. This means all users in that domain can now connect their own Microsoft email accounts in Saleshandy simply by entering their credentials, without needing separate admin approval again.
💡 Tip: This is the faster, more efficient option. If possible, ask your organization's Microsoft admin to connect their email account first, this saves time for everyone else on the team.
Additional Note
In both paths, once admin consent is granted, the Saleshandy app is automatically added to the Enterprise Applications list in the Microsoft Entra Admin Center. There's no need to add it manually.
Troubleshooting
If the consent request doesn't appear under Admin Consent Requests, it's likely because your organization's settings don't allow user consent requests to be routed to admins. Check the following:
Microsoft Entra Admin Center > Enterprise Applications > Consent and Permissions > User Consent Settings
Make sure the setting is configured to either:
Allow user consent for apps from verified publishers, for selected permissions (Recommended), or
Allow user consent for apps
If it's set to Do not allow user consent, users won't be able to trigger a consent request at all, and an admin will need to add and approve the app directly.
For more details on configuring these settings, refer to Microsoft's official documentation: Configure user consent settings
