Protect sensitive prospect, lead, and engagement data by controlling who on your team can export it, and how.
Why This Matters
By default, all Saleshandy users can export data. For growing SDR teams and enterprises, this creates risk: reps who churn or leave can take your prospect lists, lead data, and engagement reports with them.
The Export Control setting lets Owners and Admins decide:
Whether team members can export data at all
Whether they can request an export (with the file going to the admin's email instead)
Who Can Configure This
Only Owners and Admins can change these settings. Team Managers and Team Members cannot access or modify export controls.
Export Control settings are not applicable to agency users or users added as a client.
Where to Find It
Admin Settings → Team Management
The two export control toggles appear in the same section as the "Allow team members to see prospects of each other" setting.
The Two Toggles
Toggle 1: Allow team members to export data
"Allow team members to export prospect, reports, lead and engagement data"
State | What happens |
ON (default) | All users can export. Toggle 2 becomes available. |
OFF | Export completely blocked for all Team Managers and Team Members. Export API also rejects non-admin requests. Toggle 2 is locked OFF and cannot be enabled. |
Toggle 2: Allow export requests (only active when Toggle 1 is ON)
"Allow export requests - report is directly sent to admin's email instead"
State | What happens |
OFF (default) | Team members export directly — file goes to the user. |
ON | Team members can still trigger exports, but the file is sent to the Owner's registered email, not the user's. |
What Team Members See
Scenario A - Toggle 1 ON, Toggle 2 OFF (default)
Normal export experience. Files download directly to the team member.
Scenario B - Toggle 1 OFF
The export button is not visible anywhere in the product for Team Managers and Team Members. Toggle 2 is locked OFF.
Scenario C - Toggle 1 ON, Toggle 2 ON (Admin-routed export)
Team member clicks Export
A confirmation dialog appears before the export starts
After confirming, toast appears:"Data export has been started and will be sent to Admin ([email protected])"
Exported file delivered to the Owner's registered email address
What the Admin/Owner Receives
When a team member requests an export (Scenario C), the Owner receives an email with:
Requester name - who requested the export
Data type - what was exported (prospect/lead/report/engagement)
Timestamp - when the request was made
Who Is Always Exempt
Owners and Admins are never restricted. Their export access works normally regardless of how either toggle is set.

These controls apply to all export paths in Saleshandy, not just the main prospect list:
