Saleshandy has migrated from Stripe to Paddle as its primary payment processor. This article explains what changed, what remains the same, and what you need to do (if anything) to ensure your billing and taxes are handled correctly.

What Changed

New Payment Processor

Saleshandy now uses Paddle to handle:

  • Payments

  • Invoicing

  • Tax calculation and compliance

Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record, meaning it manages all tax-related responsibilities on behalf of Saleshandy.

Improved Global Tax Compliance

Paddle is registered in 100+ tax jurisdictions worldwide and automatically:

  • Calculates applicable taxes (VAT, GST, Sales Tax, etc.)

  • Collects taxes during checkout

  • Remits taxes to local authorities

  • Issues compliant invoices

This ensures full compliance with local tax regulations globally.

What Has Not Changed

Your Pricing

  • Your Saleshandy subscription cost remains the same

  • There are no price increases

If your total invoice amount looks higher, it is due to applicable taxes — not a pricing change.

Why You May See Tax on Your Invoice

Taxes are now applied based on your billing location and local tax laws.

Depending on your country (and sometimes state or province), Paddle may add:

  • VAT (Value Added Tax)

  • GST (Goods and Services Tax)

  • Sales Tax or equivalent

This is:

  • Not an extra charge from Saleshandy

  • A legal tax requirement

  • Collected and remitted by Paddle

How to Avoid Being Charged Tax (For Businesses)

If you are a tax-registered business, you can provide your Tax ID to reduce or remove tax where applicable.

Option 1 — Add Tax ID at Checkout (Recommended)

The fastest and easiest method.

Steps:

  1. Start checkout

  2. Enter your email and select your country

  3. Click Continue

  4. Enter your Tax ID (VAT, GST, etc.)

  5. If valid, tax will be adjusted or removed before payment

Option 2 — Update Tax ID via Paddle Customer Portal (After Purchase)

If you've already paid, you can update your Tax ID and correct invoices.

How to access:

  1. Open your Paddle receipt email

  2. Click “View Invoice”, “Edit Information”, or “Manage Subscription”

  3. Log in via secure magic link

What you can do inside the portal:

  • View and download invoices

  • Update payment methods

  • Add or edit Tax ID and company details

  • Manage your subscription

To update an invoice:

  1. Open the transaction

  2. Click “Add / Edit Company Details”

  3. Enter company name, Tax ID, and billing address

  4. Save changes

Note: An invoice can only be edited once.

Option 3 — Contact Paddle Support

If you need help beyond checkout or the portal:

Include:

  • Order ID or Invoice Number

  • Tax ID

  • Company name and billing address

  • Mention it’s for your Saleshandy subscription

Past Invoices vs Future Charges

Updating your Tax ID in the portal only fixes that specific invoice.

It does NOT apply to future payments automatically.

To Apply Tax ID to Future Charges:

  1. Email Paddle Support ([email protected])

  2. Share:

    • Tax ID

    • Company name

    • Billing address

    • Saleshandy account email

  3. Ask them to save your tax information permanently

Once saved, all future invoices will reflect your tax status correctly.

Best practice:

  • Update past invoices (if needed)

  • Contact support to fix future billing

What Changes You’ll Notice

Invoice Changes

  • Seller name will show Paddle (or its legal entity)

  • Taxes may appear as a separate line item

  • Invoice format may look different

Bank Statement Changes

Your statement may show:

  • “Paddle.net*Saleshandy” or similar

This is expected and confirms successful payment processing.

Region-Specific Notes

UK Businesses

  • VAT will be applied even if you provide a VAT ID (domestic transaction)

  • VAT can be reclaimed via HMRC

  • Paddle’s VAT ID will be included on invoices

US Tax-Exempt Organizations

If you have a valid exemption certificate:

  • Email it to Paddle support with your Order ID

  • Paddle will review and apply the exemption

  • Applies to both current and future invoices

Refunds for Tax Already Charged

If you were charged tax incorrectly:

  1. Update your invoice via the Paddle Customer Portal

  2. If needed, email Paddle support with:

    • Invoice

    • Tax ID

In many cases:

  • Tax is automatically adjusted or refunded

  • Manual correction may be required

Also, request Paddle to save your Tax ID for future charges.

FAQs

Has my Saleshandy subscription price increased?

No. Pricing remains exactly the same. Any increase in total invoice amount is due to applicable taxes.

Why does my invoice now show Paddle instead of Saleshandy?

Paddle is the Merchant of Record and issues invoices on behalf of Saleshandy.

Why does my bank statement show Paddle?

Paddle processes the payment, so the charge appears as “Paddle.net*Saleshandy” or a similar reference.

Will updating my Tax ID once apply to all future payments?

No. Updating a past invoice only fixes that invoice. You must contact Paddle support to save it for future billing.

Can I edit an invoice multiple times?

No. Each invoice can only be edited once. Make sure all details are correct before saving.

What if my Tax ID is invalid?

Paddle validates Tax IDs in real time. If invalid, tax will not be adjusted or removed.

Which taxes are applied and where?

Taxes vary by country, and sometimes by state or province. Paddle automatically applies the correct tax rate based on your billing location.

How do tax exemptions work?

If you have a valid exemption certificate (e.g., non-profit status), you must send it to Paddle support. They will verify and apply the exemption to your account.

What is reverse charge?

For certain cross-border B2B transactions, if you provide a valid Tax ID, tax may not be charged at checkout. Instead, you report and handle the tax in your own country.

Will my Tax ID be automatically saved if I add it during checkout?

Not always. In some cases, it applies only to that transaction. To ensure it is saved for future billing, contact Paddle support. If you do not provide a tax ID, you will be charged applicable taxes based on your location, as required by local regulations.

Can I update my Tax ID before my next renewal?

Yes. You can either:

  • Add it via the Paddle Customer Portal (for invoices), or

  • Contact Paddle support to ensure it applies to future renewals

Why am I still being charged tax even after adding my Tax ID?

Possible reasons:

  • The Tax ID is invalid

  • The transaction is domestic (tax still applies)

  • Your Tax ID was not saved for future billing

  • Contact Paddle support to verify.

How long does it take for Paddle to process tax updates or exemptions?

Typically within a few business days after submitting valid details or documentation.

Does this change affect my subscription, billing cycle, or renewals?

No. Only the payment processor has changed. Your plan, billing cycle, and renewals remain unchanged.
